If Wolverine Tells You About FCBD, You Better Listen

It appears to be Free Comic Book Day week (is that correct to say?) here at the Bent Wookee Comix site so I've restrained myself from spouting off my usual drivel. Instead, since I know you will enjoy this, I present Wolverine himself talking about Free Comic Book Day and where you can find out further information. The trailer for "X-Men Origins: Wolverine" follows his message so you can chose to watch or wait until tomorrow to see it for the first time in theaters (like I plan to do). Enough talking, time to listen to Wolverine:

Can I Put My Head Between Your Sais?

With Dark Reign all around us like viruses in the air (I know Brandon will love that reference) I think I should review one of the myriad of limited series coming out that have ties to the Dark Reign storyline. Since some think I tend to bash females in comics (I don't) let's take a look at what Elektra has been up to in Dark Reign: Elektra #1:

As many of you will remember, Elektra was replaced by a Skrull and it was the death of the Elektra Skrull that lead the heroes to discover Skrulls had been replacing heroes for years in an attempt to take over the planet. Now that the Skrull Invasion is over and the ship carrying all the replaced heroes/villains has returned, it's time to catch up on what happened to Elektra after she got off the ship.

When she disembarks the ship, Elektra appears to be a little worse for wear, unlike the other passengers. When S.H.I.E.L.D agents try to help her, she instinctively defends herself and escapes into the woods where she is tackled by other agents. She almost kills an agent and is nearly killed herself before Iron Man puts a stop to it all. Stark sets it up that she will be taken care of in a S.H.I.E.L.D facility and will be allowed to recover on her own.

A few weeks later, Stark is no longer running S.H.I.E.L.D and now Norman Osborn is in charge. He sets out to find out why she was experimented on by the Skrulls more than the other prisoners, but Elektra isn't talking. Fast forward three months and she still hasn't cracked. A new scientist is brought on board to help monitor the situation. The scientist turns out to be the mercenary Paladin who is there to collect an 82 million dollar bounty. All he has to do is tell her "The stars are safe in the sky" and provide proof of her death. Elektra uses a unique way to escape her restraints and incapacitates Paladin. As she walks through the door a platoon of H.A.M.M.E.R soldiers come barreling towards her. It's showtime!

Why did the Skrulls experiment on her but not the other captives? What do those words mean that Paladin said to her? Will Elektra have a line of dialogue in this mini-series? Wanna know what happens next? Buy the book, available at Bent Wookee Comix located at 127 Fairfield Avenue in the West End section of Johnstown. See ya there!
